Industrial Scrap- How do we recycle it?
Any product or materials which has been discarded or eliminated from the use but can be recycled or reused are called scrap materials. It can be made usable again easily by following some systematic process. Scrap materials can come from various sources such as construction or demolition of any building (office, house etc.), old vehicles, used materials etc but another crucial source of scrap materials is industrial scrap. These scraps are very useful and easily recyclable by following some systematic process.
Many manufacturing companies use raw materials for manufacturing desired appliances such as TVs, ACs, refrigerators, cars, bikes, etc. But at the time of manufacturing, many raw materials get wasted in the process of cutting, slotting and shaping the workpiece or are not used because of the defensiveness of the materials. Hence companies declare these substances waste and unusable. We call these waste materials as industrial scrap. On a very short note, any materials which are not used or get wasted in the process of creating any machine or appliances and can be reused or recycled are called industrial scrap.
Process of how do we recycle industrial scrap
1. Collecting metal materials
The very first process is collecting or gathering all the discarded or removed materials which contain different types of metals. We collect and buy them from different sources. Many industrial manufacturing companies and factories directly sell their large amount of waste materials to us that comprises metals. We use these materials further to recycle.
2. Sorting or segregation of metals
Once we get it, collect enough materials and stuff. Now we start sorting or separating the materials. We separate non-recyclable metals from recyclable metals and keep only those materials that consist of ferrous or non-ferrous metals because we mainly recycle the metals from industrial scrap.
3. Smashing or breaking the metals
Sorted or separated metals are now breaking up or crushed and compressed in cubes. It is important to crush or break the metals so that we can easily follow the further process.
4. Slicing the metals
In this last step, we split the metals into very small slices and sheets. The reason is very simple: smaller and thin meta uses less energy for melting.
5. Melting the metals
Sliced sheets of metals are now melting on appropriate or suitable heat/temperature to give the metals desired shape.
6. Purification and cooling of the metals
This is almost the last step of our industrial scrap recycling process. In this process, we purify the metals from different methods. Different metals need different types of purification methods or techniques.
After the purification of metals, we cooled down these metals into different sections where various chemicals are used to give the required properties to the metals. And now these metals are absolutely ready to use and send to use in different industries.
